Escape the room is a genre of first-person, point-and-click adventure games in which players have to escape an enclosed space by interacting with objects hidden within a room. The objects are then used in combination with other objects, which eventually reveal a method of escape.
Several real-life versions of the game have also popped up in several countries. Players need to solve puzzles using clues and logic, and the games often include subplots. One such version is the Japanese game show, Dero. Contestants are put in a room and given the task of escaping it. Every room has some way for contestants to fall and die in an obviously fake death.
